Vikas Bhat joined NBPGR (National Bureau of Plant Genetic Research) for a four -month training stint. He worked on the project “DNA Fingerprinting of Elite Clones of JatrophaUsing RAPD Markers” under my supervision. He came across as a very talented and enthusiastic trainee. As the senior scientist at this institute I have trained many young researchers but none of them had such good research potential as Vikas did.
He displayed a sound knowledge of the fundamentals when I first interviewed him. In these four months he has moved from strength to strength and has picked up various study techniques like DNA extraction, purification, PCR analysis of released varieties of Jatropha clones.
I found him imbued with the right attitude and aptitude for research based career, He is very patient and never gets upset during tedious lab processes. In fact at times I found him working late to finish his work for the day.He listens very patiently too. I was also impressed by his analytical and logical thinking.
As a person he won friends among the staff by his courteous demeanor and good interpersonal skills. In this short period he has developed a good rapport with my entire team.
He would go out of the way to look for emerging ideas or unknown facts. It is heartening to see him brimming with ideas and energy. Because of his qualifications, ambition and soft skills he will definitely go far in life and achieve his goals. He therefore has my support and I recommend to your program with full faith that he will reciprocate the gesture with his characteristic diligence and sincerity.
